Earthquake Watch is an iGoogle gadget that tracks real-time earthquakes in the world on Google Maps.
You can view the latest earthquakes, the most important and set the preferred display on the map (your area).
Example: the map of North America for me. One can see in purple below the earthquake which took place Wednesday, March 16 at 1:36 p.m. to 74 km from Montreal (magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale).
So if you feel the vibrations and want to be sure that it is indeed an earthquake, you can use this iGoogle gadget (you must have a Google account) or the application available on Facebook.
The data are from the USGS (United States Geological Survey), the site also provides a comprehensive overview of past disasters (earthquakes in the last 30 days, the most murderous, history lists and time maps real search engine Seismic, etc.)..
A notification service can also receive email alerts when an earthquake takes place in your geographic area (this works anywhere in the world).
Three other sites of interest: Earthquakes Canada (in French!), And FranceSeisme.fr HEWS (Humanitarian Early Warning Service).
